Autumn Snowflake (Leucojum autumnale) flower

These delicate bell shaped nodding flowers are white, often with a pink flush at the base and one to three per stem. The scape is around 20cm tall and the flower 9 to 14mm long. Fine, deep green leaves appear from the bulbs after flowering. They can spread over a large area in a scattered manner.

Habitat: Rocky hillslopes and grasslands

Distribution: Iberia to Sardinia, N. West Africa

Lovely to see your photos of Leucojum Autumnale as I have just been given some for the garden I am re-establishing here in Marysville, Victoria, Australia after the horrific bushfires of February, 2009 when we lost everthing except our lives!
