inside the white yurt

Inside the yurt you will find an airy and spacious environment. Furniture includes a low double bed, ample shelving with hanging space for shirts and jackets, a wooden breakfast table with chairs and a large bean bag sofa. To keep warm you will find a large wood burner at the back of the yurt, although this is generally not needed in the summer months. As we are not connected to the 'grid' our power comes from the sun and two 20w halogen spotlights provide plenty of light,a 12v cigarette socket is also available for charging mobile phones and laptops. (please bring a 12v cigarette socket adapter if you would like to use this facility)

outside the white yurt

As you go outside the yurt you will step onto a large wooden veranda overlooking the lake. You may wish to take a moment to stop and enjoy the view, listen to the sounds of the eagles circling nearby or if your very lucky you may even glimpse a reclusive boar taking a dip in the lake to cool down! On the veranda you will find a table and chairs with a large sun shade umbrella, essential in the hot summer months! You may have your meals served here or inside the yurt as you wish.

The yurt is set in almost 2 acres of terraced land accessed by a good dirt road suitable for any car with parking for one or two vehicles.
The yurt sits at the bottom of this terraced valley less than 5 meters from the lake! To the rear of the yurt you will find a small natural waterfall with a hammock nestled between two olive trees.To the left of the yurt stone steps lead up to the next terrace where the compost toilet is situated with a great view of the lake! To the right of the yurt stone steps lead up to the Solar Shower located towards the end of the terrace. A gravel path leads up to the road from this terrace.

the green yurt

The green yurt has been hand made using locally sourced wood right here in Central Portugal by our freinds at Larfin Yurts. This yurt is slighly smaller than the white yurt, being 12ft in diameter, yet still plenty of room for two people. The yurt is nestled between two oak trees which help to provide some shade during the summer. Perched on a higher terrace than the white yurt, the green yurt affords a stunning view of the lake and the early morning sunrise!

The green yurt is available from the 1st April until the end of September.

inside the yurt

The interior of the yurt consist of a comfy double bed, clothes wardrobe and sofa. Unfortunately there wont be elctric lights in this yurt for this summer so light in the evening is providied by candle power which I personally prefer to electric lights!

outside the yurt

The yurt is situated on a terrace above the other yurt and still offers privacy from other guests. You will still have a great view of the lake and are able to reach the lake shore by a rocky pathway, good walking shoes are essential here!

amenities

All amenities here at Lakeview Yurt Retreat have been designed to minimize environmental impact. We use solar power for all our electricity needs and have a unique compost toilet with an amazing view over the lake. Opposite the compost toilet, on our sunniest terrace, you will find the solar hot water shower. The shower will provide enough hot water for 2 people for about 10 minutes each, however the temperature of the water in the solar shower is of course dependant on the sun.

We are able to accommodate family's and have camping options available for children*, please contact us for more details. Lunch and Dinner can be provided for a small additional charge.

A non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total booking cost is required to secure your booking. The balance of your booking is to be paid upon arrival at Lakeview Yurt Retreat whereupon a receipt will be issued to you.
