Finca al-manzil is special because it is secluded from other houses and people, although not remote, in a world of its own, independent, entirely run on solar power and with mountain water from a deep bore hole. Very comfortable accommodation with beautiful views of the mountain peaks and over the olive groves. Great riding and walking country with ancient paths straight from the finca. An extensive finca in the stunning Sierra de Montanchez, Extremadura. Set in beautiful, unspoilt holm oak woodland within a protected mountain area, and yet only 30 minutes from three world heritage towns, Merida, Caceres and Trujillo.

Activities at Finca al-manzil - Creative cooking holiday. We now offer a 4 or 7 day cooking holiday at Finca al-manzil. There has been much acclaim for the dinners at the finca, we now share our secrets and spend some enjoyable time exploring and creating Iberic, Moroccan and Middle Eastern dishes. The 7 day programme includes some interesting excursions in our area of Extremadura.

Excellent paths lead from the finca for birdwatching, hiking, cycling and riding. We have horses and bikes for hire. Experienced horse riders only. Very comfortable accommodation all year, self-catering in the cortijo and barns; B.&B. in cortijo . Gorgeous views in all directions. The cortijo and barns can be rented together for larger parties of 12 people.

The pool runs with an eco-friendly salt water chlorinator to keep the water clean and very pleasant for swimming unlike traditional chlorine pools, it is set into the rocks and trees of the mountain. The seating area has great views of the peaks and over the surrounding countryside.

We are keeping the grounds as natural as possible but with stone paths for better and safer access to all parts of the finca, especially the higher part which contains many old stone shelters, chozos, springs and wonderful vistas from the spectacular rock formations. We want our guests to be able to enjoy a safe and rewarding wander around the finca and beyond, using the original ancient paths, two of which lead to the castle of Montanchez. We plan to revive as much pathway as possible as it is a truly great experience to walk on Roman and Moorish history.
