Introduction: Ebro Tours provide self-catering rural accommodation as well as hiking & birdwatching tours in Spain. Based within easy reach of two of Cataluña's Natural Parks, the wetlands of the Ebro Delta and the spectacular craggy, limestone massif of Els Ports mountains, which extend into Aragon and Valencia.
Full Description: Our Spanish rural accommodation is within 30 minutes drive of the Ebro Delta's Mediterranean coast and just a short walk to the mountain trails of the Els Ports Mountains Natural Park. Both of the self-catering houses are on our own finca (small fruit farm) consisting mainly of olive and almond trees. They have excellent mountain views and the small village of Els Reguers is only 5 minutes drive away, where you will find surprisingly good restaurants and bars. The Bona Vista Country House with pool caters for up to 6 people & consists of 3 bedrooms, 1 double & 2 twin. The double has its own shower room with shower, toilet & handbasin & the twin bedrooms share a separate shower room. There is a large lounge/diner with woodburning stove for winter's cooler nights. It is also equipped with a comfortable sofa, dvd player & cd/mp3 player. The kitchen is well-equipped with gas hob & electric oven, microwave, fridge freezer & washing machine. The outside of the villa consists of large sun bathing terrace with private swimming pool (with safe access control for small children) as well as a smaller BBQ terrace. For 2010 prices start from €550 (euros) per week The Casa Pequena Country House is a smaller house and caters for up to 4 people and consists of 2 twin bedrooms, shower room, with toilet and handbasin, and a kitchen which includes fridge/freezer and gas cooker. There is also a lounge/diner area with comfortable sofa, tv/video player, cd/radio cassette player & a well-stocked bookcase. There is also an outside terrace and nearby a small swimming pool located beside a shady pine terrace. For 2010 prices start from €300 (euros) per week. There is the opportunity to book both of the above properties jointly. The combined price includes a good discount. However they are also ideal for rental separately as they are divided by olive trees and are 50m apart. Please see website for details. Walking - Whether you are a casual walker or a serious hiker, this relatively unknown part of Europe, the Els Ports mountains Natural Park and its surrounding countryside will offer you a wealth of surprises. The range is made up of calcareous, Mesozoic rock formations, creating many peaks, the highest of which is Mont Caro at 1447 metres. It's an ideal area for nature excursions, fully covered by both long and short distance trails. Footpaths delightfully vary from well-marked tracks to abandoned drovers' paths. The general landscape is wild and rugged with verdant forest interrupted by craggy peaks with twisted strata and sharp ravines. Here and there springs feed crystal clear streams and rivers. Our guided walks will therefore vary from flattish river valley to steeper mountain climbing routes, with breath-taking vistas. Some of our guided walks follow dry or flowing rivers or barrancs with strange water-sculpted and water-stained rock sides, sometimes culminating in steep-sided narrow gorges. See website for more detailed information. We also provide free detailed information to enable walkers to self-guide into the Els Ports Natural Park, from the accommodations' doorsteps & on other local routes. Birdwatching - The Ebro Delta Natural park is one of the most important aquatic habitats of the Western Mediterranean and birds make up the most striking aspect of the wildlife. At any given time there will be between 50000 and 100000 individuals in residence belonging to 300 species, 60% of the total number found in Europe. Over many thousands of years the silt collected during the River Ebro's lengthy journey has been deposited to form this extensive wetland, 320 sq km in size, jutting out into the sea like an arrowhead. It is not only used as a home and breeding ground but is also an essential way-station on the flight path of migratory birds. We provide guided birdwatching trips to both of the above Natural Parks or can give you sufficient information to allow you to explore the region on your own. Click Here to go to the Website
